Lomography workshop in February

As one of a series of workshops being conducted by thejamjar during the weekly Souq Al Bastakiya*, Dubai’s Lomographyy Ambassador will be on board on 21st February 2009 to manage all your Lomography related queries and discoveries and share some tips and tricks.

Bring along any Lomo camera you own. Some will be available for sale (Holga and Diana+) and some will be available to borrow for the day (Colorsplash). The workshop will include walking around and getting snap happy within the historical architecture and authentic city buzz that surrounds the Bastakiya area. This will be followed by a review session/wrap up discussion.

*Souq Al Bastakiya is a new independent outdoor market located in the historic district of Al Bastakiya, near the Ruler’s Court on Dubai’s Creek. It will take place every Saturday till 28th February 2009. Lomography Workshop in January

This year’s first workshop takes place on Tuesday the 13th of January at thejamjar in Al Quoz.

A Lomography for beginners workshop will introduce you to the history of Lomography, guide you through the different Lomography cameras with a focus on two popular medium format cameras, the Holga and the Diana.

An informal session, the workshop is all about getting you to hone your love for the art form and encourage you to get out there and JUST SHOOT. It doesn’t take a photo hound to capture a moment, it takes the click of a finger! And with your trusty lomo camera, you can rest assure that it’ll be magically transformed into a pretty piece of art, whether it’s a blurred nothing or a smudge of life’s colours, you’ll have yourself a picture.

We will have special packages for the workshop that will include discounted prices on Lomography cameras for you to get started with, see below. If you already have a Lomo camera and don’t know how to work it, we’ll help you sort that out too.

Workshop rates:
AED 50 If you, however, buy one of the following cameras from thejamjar studio you don't have to the workshop rate.

Souq al Bastakiya

I was invited by Souq Al Bastakiya to put together a small Lomowall at their weekly event. It's up from this week and more panels will be added over the next few weeks. Go check it out on Saturdays.

Souq al Bastakiya is a new independent outdoor market located in the historic district of Al Bastakiya, near the Ruler’s Court on Dubai’s Creek. It started in December and will take place every Saturday from till 28th February 2009. Over 50 vendors will display their merchandise: accessories, fashion, arts, crafts, antiques, lifestyle, food & beverage among others.

Timings:
- Every Saturday from 10 am till sunset
- Valet Parking will be during market hours
- Souq Café every Friday & Saturday from 11 am to 10 pm
- Kids corner, every Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm
