LC-A workshops in July

You are invited to the first of several workshops lined up this summer at thejamjar. We will start off with a workshop and outing dedicated to the LC-A. 

Introduction to the LC-A
Saturday, 4 July from 11am - 12.30pm at thejamjar
At this beginner level workshop, you will be introduced to the LC-A, hear about its humble beginnings and how it sparked the Lomography movement around the world. Besides knowing how to use the LC-A, you will also learn about some fun techniques, tips and tricks and see some of the accessories specific to the LC-A. 
 

A date with the LC-A
Sunday, 12th July from 6.30-9.30pm at Dubai Festival Centre, Cold Stone Creamery (ground floor)
An outing to take photos with our LC-As. There is a good old fashioned funfair that would be great to capture with our LC-As and if it gets too hot/humid, we can head indoors and go to the more modern Bowling City and see what catches our fancy there. There will also be some Dubai Summer Suprise activities happening that evening, so there will be plenty to lomograph. After that, we can settle down, have some ice-cream and recap.

Bring your LC-A/LC-A+ and film will be provided if you don't have any. Limited numbers of LC-A+ will be available to loan for the evening.

Cost: Dhs 50 per session or Dhs 70 if you attend both Introduction to the LC-A and the A date with the LC-A workshops

The Lomo LC-A Big Book

The Lomo LC-A Book is out. It’s been two years in the making, and along with the help of thousands of images submitted by the Lomographic community this book encapsulates over 25 years of LC-A history. Stuffed with more than 3,000 unique images shot with this unmistakable camera hailing from St. Petersburg, the book traces the LOMO LC-A back to its roots.

Inside the Lomo LC-A Big Book
The LOMO LC-A is where Lomography started! Our roots are with the LC-A and therefore Lomographers have always had a unique affinity with the camera. The creation of the book is largely thanks to the overwhelming response of the Lomographic community to our 2006 LC-A online Rumble. An astounding 10,000 LC-A and LC-A+ images were submitted. A grand total of 3,000 images made the final cut, including an exclusive selection taken from the Lomography Archive.

Over 664 pages you are taken on an awe-inspiring visual and historical journey following the fascinating fortunes of the LC-A compact camera. Discover the LOMO LC-A’s ancestry, the long struggle to keep its original Russian production going and ultimately how the camera was reborn as the LOMO LC-A+ in China. The LOMO LC-A book is an all-encompassing homage to possibly the most characteristic and inquisitive analogue camera on the planet.
